The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s special committee has proposed extending the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service to Khyber and Warsak roads. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Excise Minister Khaliqur Rehman and Peshawar Division Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud, aimed at tackling the worsening traffic issues in the provincial capital.
The committee further recommended extending the BRT service from Ring Road to Kohat Road via GT Road. These expansions, once approved by the provincial government, are expected to alleviate traffic congestion along these critical routes and reduce the strain on nearby roads.
If implemented, the proposed extensions could play a vital role in improving Peshawar’s traffic flow and enhancing urban mobility for residents.
The KP Transport Department recently announced the digitization of its driving license issuance system to make the process more efficient and eliminate inefficiencies. As part of this initiative, a mobile application called “Dastak” will enable individuals to apply for driving licenses online, removing the need for intermediaries and addressing issues such as fake licenses and fraudulent medical certifications.
Special provisions will be made to offer concessions for overseas Pakistanis. This effort is part of a broader plan under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the KP Information Technology Board (KPITB) to modernize the department’s operations.
The digitization of the entire transport department is expected to be completed within 18 months, with the driving license system operational in just four months. Officials emphasized that this initiative will enhance public service delivery and significantly boost revenue for the province.
They need to introduce BRT in other cities of KPK as well… Why keep pumping money into a single city, why do they let other cities stay in stone age and then complain that people are like this or that when you provide them with no economic incentive, nor do you invest in them financially.

BRT is already the most foolish project destroying the main routes of Peshawar by letting one bus to run but the entire traffic to remain bumper to bumper. Please don’t apply this foolish idea over our other roads. Let us to live easily in our sweet Peshawar.
Metro expansion ? We all ready dealing with 4 Bottle necks created by brt from phase3 chowk to gora qabristan, both sides ! Expansion means more bottle necks… kindly do not Creat more bottle necks on the main GT road please.
They are not expanding roads…BRT service on same warsak road will be operational as separate route from Tehkal or Saddar to Warsak
When will it starts
Please don’t make separate tracks and burn cash. Watch Islamabad electric buses running on existing roads.
