WhatsApp Will Let You Create Personalized AI Chatbots Soon

WhatsApp is expanding its AI capabilities by introducing a new feature that lets users create personalized AI chatbots directly within the app. This development comes in response to reports indicating that the app is actively testing a redesigned Android interface, which features the replacement of the Communities tab with a new “AIs” tab.

New Chatbot Tool

WABetaInfo revealed this new feature in version 2.25.1.26 of WhatsApp beta for Android. WhatsApp allows users to design their own AI Character chatbots, simplifying the creation process with helpful suggestions.

The feature asks users to describe the chatbot’s purpose and define its primary tasks. This focus on simplicity should make this feature accessible to everyone, even those with no technical background.

As mentioned earlier, this feature is only in beta at the moment and there is no official release date yet. Even beta testers do not have access to the tool yet. As WhatsApp actively tests and enhances the feature, the company is expected to deliver further updates.

WhatsApp is working hard to position itself as a leader in AI-driven communication by introducing tools like AI Character and the “AIs” tab. The chatting app’s parent company Meta has its own open-source Large Language Model (LLM) Llama 3 that powers these AI features, most prominently Meta AI, which is already present in WhatsApp.

With the ability to create customized chatbots, users will gain powerful new tools for professional and commercial users alike, such as customer service chatbots and more.
