Peshawar to Get Four New Underpasses and Wider Roads

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has approved several infrastructure projects including underpasses and road expansions to address persistent traffic issues in Peshawar.

Four underpasses will be built at Kabootar Chowk, Jamil Chowk, Pishtakhra Chowk, and Customs Chowk along the Ring Road. Additionally, five key bottleneck areas on University Road, including Board Bazaar, Town Chowk, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Iqra Chowk, and Tamuano Chowk, will undergo widening to ease congestion.

These projects aim to enhance traffic flow and provide lasting relief for daily commuters in the city. Peshawar Division Commissioner Riaz Khan Mahsud, along with officials from the Peshawar Development Authority and other departments, visited the planned sites to review preparations.

The commissioner also initiated an anti-encroachment operation along University Road and proposed the formation of a permanent squad to prevent future violations. He stressed minimizing disruptions to traffic during construction and ensuring smooth implementation.

“A detailed plan addressing both short- and long-term traffic solutions is underway,” Mahsud said, expressing optimism that these efforts will lead to significant improvements in Peshawar’s traffic management.
