Rising fast-bowler Ihsanullah, who recently missed out on selection in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 draft, has been handed a golden opportunity by Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen.
Ihsanullah, after being snubbed from the PSL, will now represent the Multan Sultans’ departmental team, JDW, in the President’s Cup Grade Two tournament scheduled for April and May. This opportunity comes as part of Tareen’s direct intervention, offering the 22-year-old a lifeline after his PSL disappointment. Ali Tareen highlighted the franchise’s commitment, saying, “Ihsanullah is an asset to us and this country. We will provide all possible support to restore his full fitness and form.”
The Multan Sultans have gone the extra mile to ensure Ihsanullah’s comeback. The pacer will train at the Multan Sultans Academy in Lodhran, working closely with fast bowling coach Catherine Dalton to refine his skills and regain his peak fitness. Reflecting on the ongoing support, Ihsanullah expressed gratitude, stating, “Multan Sultans have always supported me, and I am grateful for their continuous backing.”
Ali Tareen emphasized the significance of nurturing unique talents like Ihsanullah. “Fast bowlers like Ihsanullah are born once in a generation. He needs protection, and Multan Sultans are committed to assisting the PCB in developing world-class talent,” Tareen remarked.
Ihsanullah’s talent was on full display during PSL 8, where he emerged as a standout performer. Playing 12 matches, he claimed 22 wickets at an average of 15.77 and an economy rate of 7.59. His fiery spells earned widespread acclaim and positioned him as a future star in Pakistan cricket.
The journey to this point, however, has not been without drama. Following his exclusion from the PSL 10 draft, Ihsanullah announced an emotional retirement from the tournament. Within 24 hours, the young pacer reversed his decision, admitting that his announcement was made in the heat of the moment. “It was an emotional reaction,” Ihsanullah explained in an interview with Geo Super.
