Punjab Stops Cash Salary Payments to Teachers in Privatized Schools

The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has enforced an immediate ban on the disbursement of teachers’ salaries in cash. Moving forward, all payments will be made online or through bank accounts, 24NewsHD TV reported.

A notification issued by PEF on Saturday confirmed the decision, stating that salary payment records will now be maintained on the Teachers’ Information System for transparency.

The notification also warned that schools failing to comply with the new payment procedure will face cancellation of their licenses.

Notably, in the first phase of the initiative, more than 5,000 schools were outsourced, employing 10,000 teachers across Punjab.
