All public and private schools across Sindh will remain closed on February 14 (Friday) in observance of Shab-e-Barat.
The Sindh Education Department has issued an official notification, confirming the holiday, which was decided with the consensus of the steering committee on education members.
Shab-e-Barat, observed on the 15th night of the Islamic month of Shaban, holds significant religious importance for Muslims. It is considered a night of forgiveness and blessings, during which many people offer special prayers, seek forgiveness, and visit graves to pray for their deceased loved ones.
Muslims believe that on this night, destinies for the coming year are written, making it a time of deep spiritual reflection.
As a result of its religious significance, many countries, including Pakistan, observe a public holiday in various sectors, including education, to allow people to engage in religious activities.
