Islamabad Makes Biometric Verification Mandatory for Stamp Papers

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has introduced biometric verification as a mandatory step for issuing stamp papers, aiming to eliminate fraud and ensure secure transactions.

An ICT administration spokesperson stated that stamp papers without biometric authentication will no longer be valid. The new system incorporates a biometric slip with each document to streamline verification and enhance security.

To enforce the rule, stamp vendors must comply with the biometric verification process. Vendors failing to follow the guidelines will be barred from issuing stamp papers. Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon emphasized that this step is crucial in eradicating counterfeit stamp papers from the system.

The decision comes in response to widespread fraud linked to fake stamp papers, which previously caused legal and financial difficulties for citizens. Several cases of forgery had been reported, highlighting the need for stricter oversight.

With biometric verification now in place, individuals can complete official transactions with greater confidence, knowing their documents are authentic and protected from fraud. This initiative is expected to bring transparency and reliability to the stamp paper issuance process in Islamabad.
