The Directorate of Colleges Education for the Karachi Region has officially prohibited all colleges in the city from accepting cash payments from students.
According to a notification issued by Regional Director Faqir Muhammad Lakho, college principals have been instructed that no cash fees of any kind should be collected at student service counters.
The directive further emphasized that principals are responsible for overseeing daily operations at student counters and ensuring that all payments are made directly into the designated college bank accounts.
Additionally, the notification warned that if any irregularities occur regarding cash fee collection, the respective college principal will be held solely accountable.
The decision follows a recent incident where staff members at Government College for Women Nazimabad and Jinnah College Nazimabad misappropriated examination fees for associate degree students. As a result, 250 students were unable to receive their admit cards on time.
In response to the issue, Dr. Zafar, the Controller of Examinations at the University of Karachi, took emergency measures to issue admit cards to affected students. Meanwhile, the principal of the college filed an FIR against those responsible for the misappropriation.
