Oppo’s latest book-style foldable has arrived globally after a series of leaks and teasers. It is not only a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 killer, but also the thinnest foldable to date, beating the current title holder, Honor Magic V3.
The Find N5 is a direct successor to the Find N3 and has improved in several aspects, including design. Let’s have a look.
The Find N5 is nearly as thin as a USB C port in its unfolded state, measuring only 4.21mm unfolded and 8.93mm once it’s folded. This was made possible by the new Titanium Flexion Hinge, which is smaller in size compared to the Find N3’s hinge. This phone also boasts the world’s first IPX9 rating on a foldable, being able to withstand water jets and submersion.
The new hinge has also allowed Oppo to reduce the crease on the 8.12-inch LTPO OLED main screen, which has 1080p resolution, a 1-120Hz refresh rate, 2100 nits of peak brightness, and a 9:9:9 aspect ratio. The outer screen is a 6.62-inch LTPO OLED panel, also with 1080p resolution and a 1-120Hz refresh rate, but a higher 2,450 nits peak brightness. Both screens work with Oppo’s Pen Stylus.
On the inside, the Oppo Find N5 gets the latest Android flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but a binned version that gets one less performance core. The only memory configuration available in the international market comes with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage and there is no memory card slot.
ColorOS 15 covers the software side of things, with Android 15 at the top. It comes with a full suite of AI features and Oppo has promised 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches.
There are three cameras on the back of the phone inside the circular module. The main sensor is a 50MP LYT-700 with a 21mm equivalent focal range and OIS. The second camera is a Samsung JN5 50MP periscope shooter with 3x optical zoom and a 70mm equivalent lens. It can double as a macro shooter. The third and final camera on the back is an 8MP ultrawide with autofocus support.
Both the front cameras on the outside and inside screens are 8MP ultrawide shooters with a 21mm lens. You get 4K video recording here, but it is limited to 30 FPS, unlike the main camera, which can also hit 60 FPS.
Thanks to silicon carbon tech, Oppo has managed to fit a massive 5,600 mAh battery inside the Find N5 with support for 80W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging support.
The Oppo Find N5 will be available in Cosmic Black, Misty White, and Dusk Purple, but the purple color is limited to China. Pricing is set at around $1870 at the moment.
