The much-publicized Biker Lane project on Ferozepur Road has failed to achieve its purpose, forcing the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to reconsider its design and execution.
The lane markings have faded, and motorcyclists continue to use multiple lanes, raising questions about the project’s effectiveness. Concerns have emerged over the quality of materials used, with officials alleging that substandard paint was applied to cut costs.
Despite prior assurances from engineers, the markings washed away soon after completion, prompting calls for accountability. However, no action has been taken against those responsible, and the project contractor’s identity remains undisclosed.
In response, the LDA has formed a fact-finding committee, including officials from TEPA and NESPAK, to investigate the issue. The committee will assess the paint quality, road conditions, and application methods.
Moving forward, authorities plan to repaint the lane in sections and install additional road signs instead of a full repaint. TEPA is also being consulted to ensure better material selection.
While the contractor blames the paint supplier—who has agreed to redo the work—no official disciplinary action has been announced.

Design doesn’t matter when hardly they used it. Why are they still in car lanes ?
I saw that very recently and I would say, design and paint doesn’t matter. I saw people using the car lanes and the bike lane was mostly. I sometimes question myself “Are Pakistani people completely blind or something?”. I am extremely nearsighted (-6 cylinder) and I can see and use the bike lane without any issue. And by the way I’m a youngster and an extremely fast driver but there are some things that I just don’t do. For example, Using the wrong way U-turn, Driving bikes on sidewalks, breaking traffic lights etc etc etc. I feel it unnecessary and stupid. How much time are you gonna save by doing that? 10 minutes NO. 5 MINUTES NO A MINUTE?. If you’re late for something you’re late. Don’t bother going fast because in the end you’re only gonna save 5 seconds which is such a waste and unnecessary.
I’ve had multiple accidents because of some stupid guys like these who just can’t go 200m for a turn and would rather cross over a sidewalk and then stop in the middle of a high speed road. After that they are gonna blame you for that. Like dude I can’t just magically force stop my vehicle when you suddenly appear out of nowhere in a place you’re not supposed to be.
