Aqib Javed’s Next Role Within PCB Revealed

Pakistan’s interim head coach, Aqib Javed, is likely to maintain his association with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) even after his tenure as the interim head coach of the national cricket team comes to an end. Cricket Pakistan is reporting that Aqib will be offered a new role by the PCB when he steps down following the Champions Trophy.

The PCB is reportedly impressed with the job he has done in the short term, and rather than continuing as the national team’s head coach, Javed is expected to be appointed as the Director of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), replacing Nadeem Khan, who recently resigned to join the Multan Sultans.

Media sources confirm that Aqib Javed, whose contract as interim head coach expired after the Champions Trophy debacle, is also keen on working in a developmental capacity at the NCA. His interest in the role aligns with the PCB’s plans to restructure its setup from the ground up. Aaqib Javed will be tasked with overseeing the development of cricketing talent moving forward.

Javed’s extensive experience and deep understanding of Pakistan’s cricketing landscape make him a strong candidate to oversee the development of young talent at the NCA. He is also credited with unearthing some exceptional players during his time with the Lahore Qalandars, further bolstering his credentials.

However, Aaqib will likely be removed from his position as chief selector to allow him to focus on his new role at the NCA.
