The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced two major financial assistance programs—Roshan Mustaqbil Card for orphaned children and Sahara Card for widows—to support vulnerable segments of society.
At a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur officially launched the initiatives.
The event was attended by Provincial Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah, Secretary Social Welfare Department Syed Nazar Hussain Shah, and other officials, along with orphaned children and widows.
Under the Roshan Mustaqbil Card, orphaned children up to age 16 will receive Rs10,000 per month, doubling the originally planned Rs5,000. Priority will be given to children who have lost both parents, with approximately 9,000 children benefiting in the first phase.
Similarly, the Sahara Card, initially set to provide Rs5,000 to widows aged 45 and above, has been increased to Rs10,000 per month, reaching 15,000 beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized his government’s commitment to a welfare state, ensuring transparency through an IT-based screening system. He highlighted that as soon as his administration took office, efforts began to collect data and expand social welfare programs to assist those in need.
