Stats Prove Pakistan is Worse Than Afghanistan in Last 3 ICC Tournaments

The embarrassing exit from the Champions Trophy 2025 marks the third straight ICC event that Pakistan has failed to perform. According to recent statistics, which compare the number of matches played and won by teams in the last three ICC events (2023 ODI World Cup, 2024 T20I World Cup, and 2025 Champions Trophy), Pakistan has won just 6 out of 15 matches in the major tournaments.

The numbers paint a concerning picture for Pakistan cricket, especially when juxtaposed with the dominance of arch-rivals India.

Teams With Most Wins in Last 3 ICC Events

Team Matches Played Wins
India 21 20
South Africa 20 16
Australia 19 15
Afghanistan 19 10
New Zealand 16 9
England 19 7
Pakistan 15 6
West Indies 7 5
Bangladesh 18 5
Sri Lanka 12 3
Netherlands 13 3

Pakistan’s performance not only places them well below not only traditional cricketing giants like India and Australia but also Afghanistan who have won 10 out of 19 matches. Even England, who have struggled in recent tournaments, managed to win 7 out of 19 matches, edging out Pakistan in terms of total victories. It is also worth noting, that Pakistan is just above West Indies on the list, who competed in only one of the last three ICC events (the 2024 T20I World Cup), securing 5 wins out of 7 matches.

India has emerged as the most successful team in the last three ICC tournaments, winning an astounding 20 out of 21 matches, a win percentage of over 95%. One of the most surprising statistics comes from Afghanistan, who have won 10 out of 19 matches, surpassing teams like New Zealand, England, and Pakistan.
