Murree’s Mall Road to Get a New Look Under Rs. 55 Crore Project

The Punjab government has launched a Rs. 550 million project to restore Murree’s Mall Road to a better condition. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has assigned the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) to lead the restoration effort with input from experts and local stakeholders.

According to the chief minister, the project aims to transform Murree into a global tourism destination without compromising quality. She also announced plans for a glass train and a modern hospital to improve visitor facilities.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb will oversee the Murree Development Project. As part of the restoration, historical footpaths will be rebuilt, and cleanliness will be improved.

Shops and buildings along Mall Road will be restored to their original architectural style, with uniform signage and lighting to maintain a traditional look. A public square will also be developed to highlight Murree’s rich history. Tourists will benefit from upgraded public washrooms as well.

The government aims to complete the project within a year, ensuring Murree regains its status as a prime tourist destination while preserving its historical significance.
