The Karachi administration has introduced new traffic management plans to ease congestion during Ramadan, especially around Iftar hours.
In a recent meeting led by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hasan Naqvi, officials discussed steps to improve traffic in busy areas. Attendees included Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah, and representatives from municipal and cantonment boards.
DIG Shah stated that additional traffic personnel would be deployed on key roads between 2 PM and 7 PM to manage heavy traffic. Special help desks will also be set up in shopping areas to address parking and traffic issues during Eid shopping.
Deputy commissioners were directed to coordinate with market associations to streamline parking arrangements and ensure smooth movement. Authorities also emphasized reopening basement parking areas in commercial buildings converted into warehouses or shops.
The commissioner ordered immediate action to reopen parking spaces in major shopping centers, including Imtiaz Supermarket on Rashid Minhas Road and Chase Up Value on Kashmir Road.
Officials confirmed that several commercial buildings in District South have already had their basement parking restored, with similar measures planned across the city.
