Passport Office Denies New Passport to Opposition Leader in Punjab

Lahore’s Garden Town passport office refused to process the passport application of Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar, citing his inclusion on the exit control list (ECL).

According to a private news channel, Bhachar had recently lost his passport and visited the office to apply for a replacement. However, officials declined his request due to travel restrictions on him.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker was reportedly preparing for a trip to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

The denial comes just days after Bhachar announced plans to release a white paper criticizing the Punjab government’s performance under the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Speaking at the Lahore Press Club last week, he accused the provincial leadership of misusing public funds for self-promotion.

Without directly naming Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Bhachar alleged that taxpayer money was being spent on enhancing her image and that of her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
