The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to allow Aqib Javed to continue in his role as interim head coach for Pakistan’s upcoming tour of New Zealand. Originally appointed until the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Javed’s tenure was all but confirmed to have ended with Pakistan’s unceremonious exit from the tournament.
However, the PCB has admitted that despite a series of disappointing results in the Champions Trophy, Aaqib is the right man to guide the team during this crucial phase.
Aqib Javed will now be responsible for helping Pakistan recover in both the ODI and T20I formats during the New Zealand tour. The PCB believes that his experience and guidance will play a key role in stabilizing the squad and building confidence as the team moves forward.
Alongside Javed, former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf has been appointed as the new batting coach. Known for his outstanding batting skills and deep cricketing knowledge, Yousuf is expected to provide valuable expertise to Pakistan’s batting line-up during the tour, to improve performance in key matches.
The PCB has also confirmed the full player support staff for the tour, ensuring that the team has a well-rounded support structure to succeed. Below is the complete list of support personnel:
