The National Assembly was informed on Thursday about a new fine imposed on individuals performing one-wheeling in Islamabad.
The fine, set at Rs 5,000, comes after the Islamabad Traffic Police issued a total of 369 challans this year, collecting over Rs 1.5 million in fines from violators.
During the session, the Ministry of Interior also presented detailed statistics on online fraud, revealing significant action by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing.
The ministry reported that 13,722 inquiries were registered in 2024, leading to 832 First Information Reports (FIRs) against individuals involved in online scams.
The crackdown resulted in the arrest of 1,212 suspects, and over Rs 650 million was recovered from those implicated in cyber fraud.
In addition to these discussions, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) submitted a resolution in the National Assembly addressing the proposed construction of a canal over the Indus River.
The resolution was filed by Parliamentary Leaders Zartaj Gul, Ali Muhammad Khan, and Ahmad Chattha. Ali Muhammad Khan emphasized that PTI is representing the concerns of the Sindhi people regarding the water crisis in the region. He called for an urgent discussion on the issue.
Zartaj Gul, further stressing the gravity of the water crisis, highlighted that the issue has persisted since 2005. She also noted that the resolution, originally drafted by Omar Ayub, should be included in the upcoming agenda. She warned that any potential conflict, “God forbid,” could arise over water scarcity.
