With the Pakistan Super League 2025 officially off the mark, multiple franchises have been forced into mid-tournament reshuffles due to injuries and availability concerns, with none more affected than Karachi Kings. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially confirmed a fresh round of replacements, with the Kings and Multan Sultans being the most impacted teams.
Karachi Kings have been hit by a double blow, prompting two key changes to their squad. New Zealand’s seasoned campaigner Kane Williamson, who was available only partially, has now been replaced by young wicketkeeper-batter Saad Baig. The 18-year-old has been making waves in Pakistan’s junior team and is seen as a long-term investment by the Kings.
The talented batter has already represented the team in one T20 but failed to make an impact with the bat. The Kings will be hoping that after an off-season of growth, Saad can deliver on his promise in the coming weeks.
Saad Baig’s addition is not the only change for Karachi Kings this season. Liton Das, who has been ruled out due to injury, leaving a significant gap at the top of the order, has been replaced by Australia’s Ben McDermott, known for his explosive batting in T20 leagues around the world.
Multan Sultans have also been affected by the injury bug. Johnson Charles, the hard-hitting West Indian, has been sidelined due to injury. Multan Sultans have opted for Australia’s Ashton Turner as his replacement. Turner, an experienced campaigner in T20 leagues, adds depth to the middle order and offers an additional bowling option with his off-spin.
Ihsanullah’s move to Peshawar Zalmi as a supplementary pick has officially been credited by the PCB. While his return does not guarantee any game time for one of the breakout stars in recent PSL seasons, his inclusion could be a game-changer for the franchise in the latter half of the tournament if the pacer finds his footing in Zalmi’s camp.
As PSL X continues, these adjustments could play a pivotal role in defining the trajectory of each team. With momentum, injuries, and form all playing a part, PSL 2025 is heating up to be one of the most competitive editions in recent memory.
