PSL or IPL? Jason Holder Reveals His Preference

West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder made a stellar debut, grabbing 4 wickets, in the Pakistan Super League (PSL X) as Islamabad United defeated Lahore Qalandars by eight wickets in the opening match of PSL X at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Holder, reflecting on his experience, likened the PSL X’s vibrant atmosphere to that of the Indian Premier League (IPL), stating, “PSL has a similar atmosphere like IPL. The comparison is difficult, but I look forward to playing more PSL.”

The tenth edition of the PSL kicked off with defending champions Islamabad United, led by Shadab Khan, facing two-time winners Lahore Qalandars, captained by Shaheen Afridi. Islamabad won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that paid dividends as Holder dismantled Lahore’s batting lineup.

The 33-year-old pacer claimed four wickets for 26 runs, dismissing Mohammad Naeem, Jahandad Khan, David Wiese, and Afridi. His disciplined bowling restricted Lahore to 139 all out in 19.3 overs, despite a fighting 66 off 38 balls from Abdullah Shafique.

Chasing 140, Islamabad lost Andries Gous early but were steered to victory by Colin Munro’s unbeaten 59 and Salman Ali Agha’s 41 not out, finishing at 143/2 in 17.4 overs. Holder’s performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
