200,000 KP Citizens Still Waiting for Ramzan and Eid Relief Packages

Ramazan has come and gone, Eid has passed, yet over 200,000 deserving individuals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are still waiting for the relief package promised by the provincial government, according to a report by 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

The widely publicized Ramazan and Eid assistance program, which aimed to distribute Rs. 10,000 each to over 10 million families, has encountered significant bureaucratic delays, sources revealed.

Official documents indicate that the government pledged aid to 10,016,395 families. However, issues such as technical glitches and mismatches in CNICs, names, and other personal data have stalled distribution for a substantial portion of the intended recipients.

What was intended as a gesture of support during the holy month has now turned into a logistical challenge for the KP government.

Sources from the Social Welfare Department reported that while aid has reached approximately 805,000 individuals, over 200,000 eligible citizens are still awaiting assistance.

“The distribution process is ongoing,” said KP Minister for Social Welfare Qasim Ali Shah, admitting to the setbacks. “Technical issues caused delays, but we are working diligently to ensure all eligible individuals receive their relief.”

Shah noted that nearly 800,000 people received aid either before or during Ramazan, and the department is actively addressing the issues impacting the remaining beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, critics argue that the inability to maintain accurate and verified beneficiary databases has once again exposed systemic weaknesses in social welfare delivery, especially at a time when timely support is most critical.

For now, hundreds of thousands of struggling families in KP remain in limbo—not only waiting for the promised Rs. 10,000, but also for a system capable of delivering when it matters most.
