Karakoram Highway Blocked at Six Locations After Devastating Landslides

Heavy rainfall in the Diamer and Upper Kohistan regions has triggered landslides, leading to the complete closure of the Karakoram Highway, halting all traffic in the area.

According to police sources, the rain began late Friday night and continued into Saturday, causing landslides at six different points along the highway. As a result, both cargo trucks and passenger vehicles have been stranded at various spots.

Authorities are working to clear the debris and reopen the road, but ongoing rain is making the task difficult. There is currently no confirmation on the status of traffic between Chilas and Gilgit.
