Multan Sultans’ batter Yasir Khan revealed his calculated approach against Lahore’s captain and star pacer, Shaheen Afridi. The 23-year-old was instrumental in helping the Sultans secure a much-needed win in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025).
The home side secured their first win of the PSL 10, defeating Lahore Qalandars by 33 runs at Multan Cricket Stadium, thanks to Yasir Khan and his explosive 87 off 44 balls. The opener’s aggressive batting set a daunting 228 for Lahore, who managed 195 in reply, ending Multan’s winless streak in the tournament.
In the post-match press conference, he shared his game plan for Shaheen Afridi. He said,
I’ve worked really hard, and I don’t feel pressure from any bowler. But I had been thinking about Shaheen bhai since last night. I planned to step out a bit and hit him because he bowls with full swing.
His strategy worked, as he smashed Shaheen for early boundaries, including a flicked four and a top-edged pull, unsettling the bowler and giving Multan a strong start.
Despite falling short of a century, Yasir prioritized the team’s goal. “Every player dreams of scoring a hundred. I was playing for the team. I had plenty of time, but our target was to score as many runs as possible. We won, so I have no regrets about not getting the hundred,” he added. His knock, paired with Iftikhar Ahmed’s unbeaten 40 off 18, set a record for the highest PSL total in Multan.
Lahore’s chase faltered despite Sikandar Raza’s 50 not out off 27 balls. Multan Sultans’ bowlers, led by Ubaid Shah with 3 for 37 and Joshua Little’s tight final over, ensured victory.
