Ubaid Shah Claims He Has Mastered a Unique Delivery

Multan Sultans’ emerging fast bowler Ubaid Shah revealed the valuable advice he received from bowling coach Catherine Dalton during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season.

During an exclusive interview with ProSports, the 19-year-old shared how the former Irish cricketer helped him refine his skills with a new technique.

Ubaid Shah explained that during a training session, he told Catherine Dalton about his strengths. “I told her I’m good at cutters, short-pitched balls, and hitting the length,” he said.

Dalton then introduced him to a new skill—a knuckleball, inspired by bowlers like Jofra Archer.

She taught me how to grip the ball with my fingers, but not to use it at the start so the batsman doesn’t notice

Dalton advised him to bowl normally at first, then surprise the batsman by adjusting his hand position for the knuckleball.

The advice paid off immediately. “When I tried it the first time, the ball beat the batsman,” Ubaid said, recalling how he excitedly told Dalton about the success.

She encouraged him, saying, “Very good,” and asked him to signal her whenever he used the knuckleball in a match. “I even got a wicket with it, and she was happy,” he added.

Ubaid Shah credited Dalton’s knowledge for helping him grow as a bowler, especially in T20 cricket, where variations are key. “Modern batsmen have all kinds of shots, so you need variations to outsmart them,” he said.
