Europe Enforces Strict New Biometric Rules for Citizens Around the World

Starting October 2025, all non-EU travelers visiting Europe will face new biometric checks at the border under the Entry/Exit System (EES).

This means visitors from countries like Pakistan, England, the United States, South Africa, or even Australia will need to register their fingerprints or have their photo taken when entering the Schengen Zone.

The new system will replace manual passport stamping with digital records, aiming to improve security and speed up travel in the long run. However, travelers should expect longer queues at airports, train stations, and ferry terminals during the first few months of the rollout.

Authorities advise travelers to plan extra time for border crossings and stay updated on travel requirements. By 2027, most non-EU visitors will also need to apply online for travel approval through the new ETIAS system, similar to the US ESTA.

The changes are designed to make European borders more secure and efficient, but travelers should be prepared for some delays at first.
