Govt Starts Review of Recruitment Apps Used By Ministries

The federal government has initiated a detailed exercise to compile information on IT-based applications and software currently being used by ministries and divisions for managing recruitment processes.

In an official directive issued by the Establishment Division, all federal ministries, attached departments, and subordinate offices have been asked to provide data on their use of digital recruitment tools.

According to official sources, the government seeks to assess the effectiveness of various IT-based platforms currently in use for sorting and processing large volumes of job applications. The directive mentions that information should also include recruitment software operated by third-party vendors. The Establishment Division intends to analyze the gathered data to improve efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in federal hiring processes.

Sources familiar with the development say this exercise is part of broader reforms aimed at digital transformation in public sector recruitment. With multiple departments relying on disparate tools for managing employment applications, the government is considering the feasibility of adopting a unified platform. Such a move would not only reduce administrative burdens but also ensure fairness and accountability in hiring procedures.

The federal government has directed all key ministries and divisions—including the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ministry of Industries and Production, Power Division, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Education, Ministry of National Health Services, Ministry of Climate Change, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Defence—to share details of the IT systems they use for recruitment. These directives have been formally conveyed through the concerned administrative wings and coordination officers.

Insiders suggest that once the responses are reviewed, the federal government may develop guidelines or a centralized digital system to be adopted across departments. This would be a major step toward e-governance and modernizing human resource practices in the public sector. If implemented successfully, it could become a model for provincial governments and autonomous bodies to follow in the future.
