In a must-win clash at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Peshawar Zalmi came out firing on all fronts to trounce Multan Sultans by seven wickets and breathe new life into their PSL 10 playoff hopes by keeping pressure on Lahore Qalandars in the latest standings.
After being asked to bowl first, Zalmi’s bowlers delivered a near-perfect performance. The Sultans, who came into the match on a miserable run, were bundled out for just 108 in 19.1 overs. Only Shai Hope (23 off 21) and Tayyab Tahir (22 off 18) showed some resistance, as the rest of the batting order collapsed under sustained pressure.
It was a collective bowling effort led by Ahmed Daniyal, who returned exceptional figures of 3 for 17. Maaz Sadaqat chipped in with 2 for 12, while Luke Wood, Ali Raza, Saim Ayub, and Alzarri Joseph all claimed one apiece in a ruthless display that saw the hosts lose their last six wickets for just 47 runs.
Chasing 109, Peshawar Zalmi made short work of the target, getting home in just 13 overs. Saim Ayub found some form with the bat, cracking 49 off 33 deliveries with four fours and three sixes, dominating the Powerplay to effectively kill the contest early. After the early dismissal of Mitchell Owen, Ayub combined with Max Bryant to keep the run rate up.
Bryant played the perfect finisher’s role, smashing an unbeaten 38 off just 20 balls to ensure no late drama, while Mohammad Haris kept him company with 7 not out. Shahid Aziz was the only bright spot with the ball for Multan, removing both Saim and Babar in a rare double-strike.
Zalmi’s emphatic win not only earns them two vital points but also a timely net run-rate boost, as the playoff picture gets more complex by the day.

With this win, Peshawar Zalmi are right back in the playoff mix, with Lahore Qalandars firmly in their sights. Shaheen Afridi’s men have the net run-rate on their side, but that won’t matter if Zalmi win their two remaining games. Multan, meanwhile, continues to sink further. The team seems to have checked out and will be glad that they have just one game left this year.
The PSL will take a one-day break tomorrow before it resumes on Wednesday with Quetta Gladiators taking on Islamabad United.
