Acting on the instructions of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Karachi traffic police have launched a citywide crackdown on traffic violations, targeting unregistered, modified, and dangerous vehicles to restore order on the roads.
Since April 9, officials have impounded 31,677 motorcycles for various infractions. Action has also been taken against 2,719 vehicles for illegal modifications, including tinted windows and non-standard number plates.
Moreover, 515 light and heavy vehicles were impounded, while authorities have recommended canceling 25 vehicle registrations and temporarily suspending 491 others.
The crackdown extended to Qingqi and motorcycle rickshaws (MCRs), beginning April 16. So far, 311 rickshaws have been seized and marked as court property, while an equal number of drivers have been arrested.
Authorities have registered 104 FIRs under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code, 33 under Section 341, and one for reckless driving. Additionally, 7,069 tickets have been issued and 32 illegal LPG/CNG kits confiscated.
To prevent accidents involving heavy vehicles, the city has begun installing mandatory GPS trackers. As of May 4, trackers have been installed in 3,391 water tankers, 28 dumpers, 82 oil tankers, 214 passenger buses, 214 small trucks, 2,763 large trucks, and 137 trailers operating within Karachi.

Did govt spent a little penny to fix those broken and congested road?.especially roads like university road?.
Worst infrastructure. I can still see many dumpers, water tankers, concrete mixer and other heavy vehicle are moving in the day time on many main roads of city, like shaheed e millat road, University road. Stadium road, Rashid Minhas Road. Authorities are sleeping or closing eyes after taking bribe.
More importantly, licensing department should be taken to task for issuing licenses to undeserving drivers.
The traffic signs should be erected across the city. Traffic management in Karachi needs a complete overhaul.
Their is no milage charges are fix on public taxis or To Rickshaws in whole Sindh area.
We have to settled fare before boarding. Their is not acceptable in whole world
My car
Just make motorcycle number plates large and properly displayed/visible and readable by cameras. I think half of snatching and similar crimes will come under control.
Apne khanchon mn lagi hai bus Sindh Government. Roads Ki halat in ko Nazar nhe ati shayed ye Andhay hn
before imposing strict laws like developed countries, its requested to sindh government, kindly first restore the city like developed cities.ppp has left karachi behind every low class city in thse world. drive on roads is like we are driving in mountainy desert.
What about the Government vehicles with tinted glasses are they above the law
Still roads aren’t fixed , public transport has become a mess with banning qingqi rickshaw , and this will also lead towards more crimes in city
Good efforts and approach to implement rule of law.
However, competent authorities must keep an eye on such punishments to prevent injustice with anyone.
Funds generated from confiscation of vehicles must be used for repairs of roads.
First of all, I appreciate the competent authorities for their efforts. I suggest starting a crackdown in Buffer Zone, Sectors 1 to 5. The operation should be conducted between morning and evening, as I have personally observed many vehicles with no registration, fake number plates, and yellow number plates. According to the last notification, the deadline is ending in April 2025.
Does the govt know how many of those are stolen cars? Do they have any plans to restore them to their actual owners or at least provide compensations?
Good
