In a move to enhance public spaces and improve the city’s infrastructure, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to fully upgrade parks in every sector of Islamabad.
The initiative includes the installation of new walking tracks, modern lighting systems, children’s play equipment, and improved horticultural features.
Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, issued the directive during a detailed review of civic facilities across the federal capital.
The CDA chief emphasized that resolving Islamabad’s traffic and parking challenges remains a top priority. As part of this effort, the authority is constructing new roads and underpasses, along with the development of parking plazas at key locations.
Major roadways such as Expressway, Margalla Road, Club Road, Park Road, and Faisal Avenue are undergoing upgrades, including fresh lane markings, footpath repairs, green belt enhancements, and median beautification.
While visiting the Pakistan Secretariat, Randhawa reviewed parking arrangements for officers, employees, and visitors. He was briefed by Member Planning, Member Environment, DG Works, and other senior officials about ongoing projects.
These include improvements to the right-of-way areas, the development of mega parks, and the promotion of urban forest initiatives aimed at curbing water and land pollution in the capital.
Under the city’s beautification campaign, horticulture and landscaping work has been intensified on several model roads. Seasonal flowers, decorative planters, and wooden signboards are being installed to enhance the aesthetic appeal.
In addition, modern lighting systems are being set up to ensure visibility and safety at night, which has reportedly received positive feedback from residents.
Ch Muhammad Ali Randhawa also directed CDA teams to ensure permanent and visually appealing lighting on key roads such as Club Road, Jinnah Avenue, and the Expressway.
He stressed the need for an efficient sprinkler system to maintain plants during dry spells and guarantee healthy growth. These steps, he said, are part of a broader effort to position Islamabad as a model eco-friendly and tourist-friendly city.
