Multan Sultans’ Shahid Aziz didn’t start his PSL on a high note, as his debut against Karachi Kings went largely unnoticed. However, the young Multan Sultans pacer quickly made headlines with a fiery spell against Peshawar Zalmi, where he claimed the prized wickets of Saim Ayub and captain Babar Azam, finishing with impressive figures of 2 for 17 in just 3 overs. Despite Multan’s defeat—largely due to struggles in batting and captaincy—Shahid’s performance stood out for its grit and raw talent.
For most of the season, Shahid has been on the sidelines, overshadowed by the rise of his teammate Ubaid Shah. But with this breakthrough spell, he has captured the attention of fans and pundits alike, sparking conversations about his future. Is Shahid Aziz on the path to a national call-up, or will he become another name lost in the shuffle of PSL’s one-season wonders?
Hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 22-year-old Shahid Aziz is a right-arm medium pacer. He has played 11 first-class matches and taken 35 wickets at an average of 24.65, including two five-wicket hauls. In T20s, he has 29 wickets from 24 matches, with a best of 4/20. His economy rate in T20s is a bit high, but he often takes important wickets.
While Shahid Aziz still needs to improve his consistency, his bowling talent is clear. If he keeps performing in domestic cricket and the PSL, he could soon be considered for the national team.
Shahid Aziz is a name to watch. With more experience and hard work, he has the potential to become a regular player for Pakistan in the future.
