May 7, 2025, will be remembered forever in the annals of the PSL as the night Quetta Gladiators made history against Islamabad United in Rawalpindi.
In a span of 120 balls, Hassan Nawaz and Rilee Rossouw smoked fours and sixes at will to help their side record the highest ever total in PSL history—a jaw-dropping 263/3—leaving Islamabad United shell-shocked and on the brink of a heavy defeat. Their total beats the previous record by a single run, which was set by Multan Sultans, ironically against the Gladiators.
After a patchy start that saw both openers back in the dugout within the powerplay, the match turned on its head when Rossouw (104 off 46) and Hassan Nawaz (100 off 45)* unleashed absolute mayhem on an increasingly clueless Islamabad bowling attack.
Rossouw thumped 14 fours and 6 sixes, scoring his third PSL century with an astonishing strike rate of 226.08. At the other end, Hassan Nawaz, previously more known for potential than production, came of age. His unbeaten century included 9 towering sixes, and he barely put a foot wrong throughout his knock. Together, the duo added 134 runs in just 10 overs, taking Quetta from a solid platform to record-breaking heights.
Not only that, it was the first time that two players from the same side have scored a century in a PSL match.
