Distressed Modi Thinks India Destroyed Most of Pakistan [Opinion]

In an uncharacteristically shaken press appearance, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today declared “victory” over Pakistan just 24 hours after Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif publicly and confidently claimed strategic success.

The Indian premier seemed visibly rattled as he launched into a rambling monologue riddled with contradictions and exaggerated claims. He alleged that “terrorist leaders in Pakistan were wiped out in one fell swoop” and that Pakistan was left “in despair and panic.” Yet the tone of the briefing showed the old man was a bit shaken and too stressed out.

Modi didn’t give any evidence, and most of his monologue was farce. He alleged that Pakistan had targeted schools and temples and boasted that India’s air defence “destroyed almost everything in Pakistan.”

At one point, Modi theatrically claimed that “India attacked Pakistan’s chest”. But international observers and DG ISPR himself reported with evidence that India’s limited incursions were swiftly repelled, its drones and missiles intercepted. Air Vice Marshal’s precise storytelling on how the Pakistan Air Force thwarted the Indian Air Force sent all Indian journalists into crisis mode. Looks like Modi felt it too.

Modi claimed that after India’s so-called aggressive actions, it was Pakistan that reached out to de-escalate. A day earlier, CNN confirmed that it was India itself that reached out to the Oval Office to help mediate a ceasefire following Pakistan’s shocking response.

As you can clearly hear, Modi’s press conference was the performance of a man not trying but failing to convincingly lie to even his own people that India hadn’t been outplayed.
