New Zealand Contingent Unlikely to Return for PSL X

As the Pakistan Super League gears up for a dramatic restart on May 17 following a military-induced pause, multiple franchises may be forced to revise their plans as New Zealand players are unlikely to return for PSL X.

According to insiders keeping tabs on the situation, Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, and Kyle Jamieson will not be part of the league once it resumes this Saturday. All three New Zealanders featured in PSL X earlier this year but have decided to remain unavailable given the security situation surrounding the league’s resumption.

While Kyle Jamieson found his opportunities limited for Quetta Gladiators, Finn Allen was a mainstay in the team alongside Saud Shakeel, and Tim Seifert found some rhythm for Karachi Kings, accompanying David Warner. While these three names have been confirmed, the futures of Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman, and other New Zealand stars for PSL X are up in the air as well.

Warner, meanwhile, is coming back for the Kings alongside teammates Mohammad Nabi and James Vince, a huge boost for their hopes of qualifying as one of the top two sides.

PSL is not the only league suffering from the withdrawal of New Zealand players, with the IPL also reportedly affected by the absences.

With a compressed schedule now confirmed—spanning from May 17 to May 25—teams were hopeful of retaining some continuity in foreign recruitment. That prospect appears slimmer with Allen, Seifert, and Jamieson expected to remain unavailable.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has remained in active discussions with several boards and agents to ensure the availability of international players. However, individual player choices are beginning to complicate matters.

Teams will now likely explore replacements or consider domestic depth options, with final squad confirmations expected in the coming days.

The six teams are set to resume the competition with league matches in Rawalpindi from May 17-19, followed by the playoffs and final in Lahore from May 21-25.

With the tournament heading toward a condensed and high-stakes conclusion, the absence of key foreign players will challenge squad depth—and possibly reshape the title race.
