Pakistan Reaches Semifinal of the Asian Beach Handball Championship

In a gritty, nerve-wracking quarter-final showdown, Pakistan held their composure under immense pressure to defeat Saudi Arabia and secure a spot in the semi-finals of the 10th Asian Beach Handball Championship taking place in Oman.

The contest, played at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, served up drama, intensity, and a clutch performance that keeps Pakistan’s championship dreams alive.

The Green Shirts, buoyed with confidence after destroying India, opened the match with intent, racing to a commanding 17-4 win in the first set. But Saudi Arabia punched back in the second, stifling Pakistan’s rhythm and turning the tables with a 14-6 set victory of their own.

With both sides splitting the sets, the match was pushed into a tense shootout—and that’s where Pakistan’s nerve and experience shone through. Calm under pressure, Pakistan prevailed 8-4 in the decider, sealing a spot in the final four of the continent’s most prestigious beach handball competition.

Iran, Oman, and Jordan joined Pakistan in the semi-finals of the Asian Beach Handball Championship.

With the championship also serving as a qualifier for the 2026 Beach Handball World Championship, every match carries added significance. For Pakistan, reaching the semi-finals now brings them within striking distance of not just continental glory but global qualification.

For now, though, Pakistan’s focus will be on the semis—and perhaps beyond. The competition is getting tougher by the minute, but Pakistan has proven that it belongs with the big guns in beach handball supremacy.
