Vsisters has introduced a new ride-hailing app tailored specifically for women. By offering an exclusive, women-only transport experience, the app aims to address the safety concerns that many female commuters face. However, while the initiative is timely and important, a comparison with InDrive reveals that Vsisters may still need to catch up.
Vsisters is being marketed as Pakistan’s first ride-hailing platform exclusively for women. Both drivers and passengers on the platform are female, creating a secure environment that promotes trust and comfort. The service is currently available only in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, with plans for future expansion.
The Vsisters app is available for download on the Google Play Store. Just like other apps such as Careem and InDrive, Riders simply enter their destination, confirm the pickup point, and are connected with a female driver. Every Vsisters driver undergoes a background check and mandatory safety training before onboarding.
The app offers three main ride options. The Bike category is geared toward solo travelers and charges approximately Rs. 650 for a 42-minute route. The Regular option accommodates up to four passengers in a car and is priced at Rs. 1,193 for the same trip. The Luxury or AC Ride option takes the cost up to Rs. 2,200, making it the most expensive choice within the app.
The screenshot below shows a fare comparison of the same route on InDrive and Vsisters.
This is a night and day difference from other apps such as Yango, which introduced discounts for new users of the app, with car rides costing as low as Rs. 600 for a 40-minute trip.
A direct fare comparison highlights the gap between V sisters and InDrive for similar routes. InDrive’s Ride Mini category offers the trip at Rs. 785, nearly 35% less than Vsisters’ Regular ride. InDrive also offers a motorcycle ride for Rs. 347 AC car rides for much cheaper than Vsisters.
Furthermore, InDrive allows fare negotiation and offers broader service types, making it a more cost-effective option.
While Vsisters delivers an important service for female mobility and empowerment, its higher fare structure will be a major obstacle for the app, as customers are already quite used to lower fares offered by InDrive and other apps. Although it offers the safety of a female-only service, most customers would still prefer to pay lower rates.
