Date Revealed for Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan

Prominent Pakistani astronomer Dr. Faheem Hashmi has predicted that Eid ul Azha is likely to be observed in Pakistan on Saturday, June 7, 2025, based on current lunar data.

Dr. Hashmi stated that the Zul Hijjah moon is not expected to be visible in Pakistan on May 27, as it will be only 11 hours old at sunset—too young to be spotted either with the naked eye or with telescopes.

However, the chances of moon sighting on May 28 are significantly higher. By then, the moon will be over 35 hours old, making it clearly visible across most parts of the country.

In Saudi Arabia, where Eid ul Azha is typically celebrated a day earlier than in Pakistan, there is a possibility of moon sighting on May 27 with the assistance of telescopes. This would place Hajj on June 5 and Eid on June 6 in the Kingdom.

Dr. Hashmi noted that while the final decision rests with religious authorities and meteorological departments, the astronomical data strongly supports a June 7 Eid ul Azha in Pakistan.
