Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 Smashes Viewership Records

The ICC has announced that the 2025 Men’s Champions Trophy, hosted by Pakistan, has shattered all previous viewership records to become the most-watched edition in the tournament’s history.

According to official figures, the event amassed a staggering 368 billion global viewing minutes, marking a 19% increase compared to the previous Champions Trophy held in England and Wales in 2017. The tournament also set a new benchmark for engagement, drawing an unprecedented 308 million global viewing minutes per over—the highest ever for any ICC event.

Despite political tensions and controversy surrounding the hybrid hosting model, which saw Team India play all their matches in Dubai rather than Pakistan, the tournament proceeded smoothly. India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan due to political reasons led to the ICC accommodating their fixtures in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a move that drew criticism but did not dampen the event’s popularity.

Team India ultimately clinched their third Champions Trophy title, adding to their previous wins in the 2002 joint-edition and the 2013 event in England. While the hybrid model and off-field controversies sparked debate, the record-breaking viewership numbers highlight the enduring global appeal of the Champions Trophy and the successful hosting efforts by Pakistan and the UAE.
