PSL X Star Reveals He’ll Only Leave Pakistan Team When He Retires

The Pakistan Super League (PSL X) has certainly produced some quality new talent for Pakistan and has also brought out the very best in a few aging veterans, reviving their international careers. One of whom is not ready to give up his place in the national side anytime soon.

Despite Karachi Kings’ exit from the PSL X following a defeat to Lahore Qalandars in Eliminator 1, vice-captain Hasan Ali is already looking ahead to his return to the Pakistan national team. The fast bowler, who finished the tournament as the joint-leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets in 10 matches, has been named in Pakistan’s 16-man squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Hasan reflected on his journey back from a career-threatening injury. He said,

I had a career-threatening injury and worked hard for 7–8 months at the NCA. I’m happy to be back in the Pakistan squad—it was very important for me as an individual, because Pakistan means everything to me. Now I’ll try—I’ll only be out of the team when I retire.

Hasan Ali expressed satisfaction with his personal form during the tournament, stating, “I am very satisfied with my personal performance. My job is to work hard.”

In the crucial Eliminator, Hasan took two wickets for 37 runs in his four overs, but Karachi Kings were unable to defend their total as Lahore chased down 191 with eight balls to spare. Hasan credited Lahore’s Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman for their strong batting performances and acknowledged that Karachi struggled to take wickets in the powerplay.

“It’s a disappointing moment for me. Unfortunately, we couldn’t win, but as a team, we played good cricket this season as compared to the past three or four seasons,” Hasan said. He also pointed to missed opportunities in bowling and fielding as key factors in the loss.

Hasan praised captain David Warner’s leadership, calling it a valuable experience to play under the Australian’s guidance. “Warner playing with us was the biggest thing. We know how experienced he is in international cricket. Playing under his captaincy and learning from him as vice-captain was a great experience,” he added.

While Karachi Kings’ PSL campaign has ended, Hasan Ali’s strong performances have paved the way for his return to international cricket, where he hopes to continue making an impact for Pakistan.
