TikTok has started working properly again after experiencing technical difficulties earlier today. The popular video-sharing platform began encountering issues at approximately 8 AM PKT, according to widespread user reports. While the service remained partially operational, users faced problems accessing various features.
Multiple social media channels including Reddit, Twitter, Bluesky, as well as monitoring service DownDetector, confirmed the situation. Mobile app users could view some videos but had trouble trying to read comments or toggle between accounts. These issues led some users to believe they had been banned.
Users on TikTok’s website and help pages were shown an error notification stating “An error occurred while processing your request,” accompanied by a reference code. Authentication problems were also prevalent during the outage.
The service has since returned to normal operations.
TikTok did not share any official statement on what was causing the disruption or when it was fixed. The company’s service providers, including Oracle and Akami, did not have any information on their status pages at the time of the outage either.
According to DownDetector, the outage seemed to have hit other regions harder than Pakistan, with nearly 44,000 reports from the US, while Pakistan did not even have 100. Although the US has many more TikTok users than Pakistan, the difference in reports is still large enough to indicate an inconsistency in disruption.
