Mobile Users Reach All Time High Among Total Internet Users

Smartphones have reached a new milestone in global web usage. According to a new report, 64% of all web traffic now originates from mobile devices. While the figure confirms an expected trend, it marks the highest share recorded to date.

Mobile Usage Continues to Rise

The dominance of mobile devices over desktops and laptops in terms of web traffic has been growing for years. Since the first quarter of 2015, the share of global web traffic from smartphones has shown a consistent upward trend, despite occasional fluctuations. The latest figure of 64% surpasses the previous record of 62.71%, which was set last quarter. This marks the eighth consecutive quarter of growth for mobile traffic.

Asia in Lead

Regional data shows that Asia leads the world in mobile web usage, with 71.3% of total traffic in the region coming from smartphones. In contrast, the Americas and Europe see roughly 50% of their web traffic coming from mobile devices. Asia’s strong preference for mobile browsing plays a major role in shaping the global average.

Android Ahead of Others

When analyzing mobile web traffic by operating system, Android remains the dominant platform. The report indicates that 72.72% of all mobile web traffic comes from Android devices, while iOS accounts for 26.92%.
