Meta Wants to Build ‘Superintelligence’ to Beat Human Brain

Meta is preparing to unveil a new AI research lab that will focus on developing “superintelligence,” an advanced artificial intelligence system that surpasses the capabilities of the human brain, according to a report from The New York Times published Tuesday. The move is part of Meta’s strategy to maintain its competitive edge in the rapidly advancing technology race.

Meta has appointed Alexandr Wang, 28, the founder and CEO of Scale AI, a leading AI startup, to spearhead the new lab. Wang’s expertise in artificial intelligence is expected to play a pivotal role in the development of this ambitious project. Furthermore, Meta is in negotiations to invest billions of dollars into Scale AI, with the plan to integrate Scale’s talent into Meta’s workforce as part of the deal.

Salaries in Hundreds of Millions

To bolster its AI efforts, Meta has reportedly offered lucrative compensation packages ranging from seven to nine figures to dozens of researchers from prominent AI companies, including OpenAI and Google. Many of these researchers have agreed to join the company, bringing their expertise to Meta’s new AI-focused initiative.
