China Unveils World’s Most Efficient Solar Panel Ever

Chinese solar manufacturer Longi has introduced a groundbreaking new solar module featuring industry-leading efficiency and power output.

Unveiled at the SNEC 2025 trade show in Shanghai, the panel delivers an impressive 700W power output and 25.9% module-level efficiency.

The module is based on Longi’s proprietary hybrid interdigitated back contact (HIBC) solar cell, which achieved a world-record 27.81% power conversion efficiency in April 2025.

Built on a full-size silicon wafer, the new panel offers a power density of 259 W/m² and a low temperature coefficient of -0.24%/°C, making it highly efficient even in hot climates.

Longi says the HIBC cells are manufactured using advanced low- and high-temperature passivation on the front side and feature a dense polymer moisture barrier for durability.

The company also highlighted a new “one-line welding structure” on its Tairay wafer, aimed at improving crack resistance.

“This sets a new benchmark for photovoltaic performance,” Longi said, emphasizing that the design combines innovations in both cell architecture and materials.
