In a significant step to support the working class, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has set the minimum monthly wage for labourers at Rs40,000 in its 2025–26 budget.
To enhance labour welfare, workplace safety, and service delivery, the provincial government has allocated Rs 210.43 million for the labour sector. This funding will support a total of six development projects—three ongoing and three new.

Out of the total allocation, Rs181.429 million has been set aside for existing projects, including:
- Establishing an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Centre in KP
- Expanding the capacity of the Directorate of Labour
- Setting up a maternal and child healthcare unit at the Social Security Medicare Centre in Peshawar’s Industrial Estate
The new initiatives, funded with Rs 29 million, include:
- A province-wide census of brick kilns and their workers
- A feasibility study and design plan for constructing labour flats
- The launch of innovative programs to modernize and improve labour sector operations
The KP government reaffirmed its dedication to improving labour conditions and ensuring the timely implementation of reforms aimed at raising labour standards across the province.
