Pakistan Railways launched a large-scale operation against passengers traveling without tickets, resulting in hundreds being caught and fined, with substantial amounts recovered in penalties and fares.
The crackdown was carried out on the instructions of the CEO of Railways, Aamir Ali Baloch. Under the supervision of Chief Commercial Manager Ali Rizwan Rizvi and Deputy CCM Kamran Saeed, a special team from the Railways Headquarters conducted surprise inspections aboard various trains within the Multan Division.
During the raids, 154 passengers were found traveling without valid tickets. The offenders were charged not only with the fare but also with heavy fines. In total, the Railway authorities collected Rs 252,760, which has been deposited into the national treasury.
Both the CEO and the CCM reaffirmed their commitment to dealing strictly with fare evaders and negligent staff. They emphasized that such enforcement operations will continue on a regular basis.
According to CEO Aamir Baloch, the operation was launched in response to frequent public complaints about widespread ticketless travel on several trains, which has been causing significant financial losses to Pakistan Railways.
