The School Education Department of Punjab has officially dismissed a viral message circulating on social media that falsely claimed the contracts of School Teaching Interns (STIs) had been terminated.
The message, which rapidly spread on platforms like WhatsApp, alleged that STI contracts had ended, and that the interns would no longer be required to report to schools after the summer break.
It also mentioned that salaries would be disbursed within a week, with a possibility of reappointments in August or September.
Terming the claims entirely baseless, the Education Department issued a clear rebuttal, branding the message as “FAKE.” The department clarified that no such announcement has been made, nor has any official decision regarding the termination of STI contracts been taken.
Officials urged teachers, interns, and the public to rely only on verified updates issued through the department’s official channels.
