Mohammad Haris Underlines His Role in Pakistan T20 Team

The Pakistan cricket team appears to be thriving under Mike Hesson’s system, and none seem to have benefited more from this positive approach than Mohammad Haris.

After finally getting a run of games under his new coach, Haris has delivered the goods, which he believes is down to the clarity of his role and what is expected of him. Speaking to reporters during the ongoing skills development camp, Mohammad Haris emphasized that he is fully aware of his responsibilities in the team and is working hard to deliver on them.

“My role is clear and I’m playing accordingly. I’ve been asked to bat at No. 3, and that’s exactly what I’m doing,” Haris said. “It will change series by series and will depend on the conditions, but right now batting at No. 3 is my role, and I am being asked to play my game,” he added.

The wicket-keeper batter, known for his attacking style and fearless strokeplay, was often seen as a floating option in Pakistan’s T20I line-ups, shuffling between opening the innings or the No. 4 spot in the limited chances he got. However, under Mike Hesson’s technical plans, he seems to have nailed down a more defined position in the order—something he seems to have welcomed.

Beyond his position in the line-up, Mohammad Haris also discussed the skills he is improving during the ongoing camp.

“I am known for my sixes and fours, so I am working on my down-the-ground game and taking singles and doubles. If you are technically good, you can hit sixes and take singles whenever you want,” he added.

Mohammad Haris has been a perfect embodiment of the cricket Mike Hesson has demanded from the Pakistani players. With his role clear and willingness to improve, all signs suggest a bright future ahead for him and the team. There will be tougher assignments ahead for him personally and for the team, but thing appear to heading in the right direction.
