Unbeaten Pakistan Through to AVC Nations Cup Quarterfinal After Surviving Scare

In a five-set epic full of momentum shifts, grit, and high-pressure drama, Pakistan’s men’s volleyball team held their nerve to defeat Chinese Taipei and confirm their place in the quarterfinals of the AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup in Bahrain as the only unbeaten team from Pool C.

Their qualification was guaranteed, but with the top spot on the line, both teams left everything on the court. Played over 2 hours and 18 minutes, the final Group C clash delivered everything from early dominance to nerve-jangling comebacks, with Pakistan ultimately prevailing 3-2 with scores of 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 16-25, 18-16.

Pakistan, brimming with confidence, controlled the early proceedings. Their disciplined play and sharp capitalization on unforced errors helped them cruise to a two-set lead. But Chinese Taipei refused to go away easily.

Reviving their attack and cutting down on mistakes, Taipei roared back into the contest, taking sets three and four convincingly. Down 8-5 in the deciding set, Pakistan looked shaken but regrouped behind a tighter block and big points from Murad Khan, eventually converting their third match point to take the decider 18-16—a set that saw 8 ties and 4 lead changes.

With this result, Pakistan topped Group C unbeaten, continuing their impressive campaign. Pakistan will now face Indonesia tomorrow to decide the semifinalists of the AVC Nations Cup. With their mettle tested, Pakistan will be confident of taking down their new challengers as well.

This quarterfinal qualification not only boosts their chances of a strong finish at the Nations Cup but also marks an important milestone in the team’s continued rise in Asian volleyball.
