Pakistan Arrests 10 Alleged RAW Agents

Pakistani authorities have arrested 10 individuals accused of working for India’s intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), in coordinated operations across Punjab and Sindh, officials announced Wednesday.

The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) detained six Pakistani nationals allegedly acting as facilitators for RAW during a targeted operation named ‘Operation Yalghar’. According to Punjab Additional Inspector General Shahzada Sultan, the arrests were made in Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar, where the suspects were reportedly planning attacks on mosques and railway stations.

“We have arrested one RAW facilitator from Bahawalpur and two Indian spies from Bahawalnagar,” Sultan said at a press conference in Lahore. He described the operation as a major success in countering foreign-sponsored terrorism, noting that audio recordings of two Indian intelligence officers were recovered as evidence.

Investigators identified the Indian officers as Major Ravindra and Inspector Singh, who allegedly provided improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to the facilitators near the Pakistan-India border. The CTD stated that the planned attacks were to be funded through cryptocurrency and branchless banking, indicating a sophisticated financial network.

Punjab CTD officials also linked recent terrorist incidents in Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan to funding from Afghanistan, with RAW allegedly supporting Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) elements in those regions. However, authorities clarified that no direct connection has been found between the Punjab-based network and a separate RAW cell dismantled in Karachi earlier the same day.

“All individuals arrested in Operation Yalghar are Pakistani citizens,” Sultan emphasized, adding that Pakistan intends to raise the issue of India’s alleged involvement in terrorism at international forums.

In Karachi, security agencies and the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) arrested four more suspects accused of working for RAW. According to SSP Shoaib Memon, the suspects were in direct contact with Indian Army Colonel Ranjit and were allegedly providing sensitive information, including photographs and geotagged locations of military installations, to handlers across the border.

Authorities recovered explosives, a vehicle, and weapons from the Karachi suspects, all residents of Sujawal district who reportedly crossed the Indian border more than 20 times. Cases under anti-state and espionage charges have been registered, and investigations are ongoing to identify further accomplices.
