The Baseball Federation of Pakistan (BFP) has officially appointed Alex Khan as the new head coach of the national U-18 baseball team. The announcement was officially confirmed by BFP officials on Tuesday.
A US-born Pakistani international, Alex Khan played both as an infielder and pitcher for Pakistan’s senior squad. He also represented the country at the 2022 World Baseball Classic and will feature in this year’s Asian Championship as well.
Federation President Fakhar Shah said Alex Khan’s extensive experience working with young athletes made him an ideal candidate for the role. “We’re excited to announce that Alex Khan has been appointed as the head coach of the Pakistan U-18 team for the upcoming U-18 World Cup qualifiers,” the BFP said in a statement. “Khan brings a wealth of coaching experience from youth baseball to summer collegiate, and we’re ready to make our mark on the global stage.”
Under his guidance, Pakistan will prepare for next year’s qualifiers for the 2026 U-18 Baseball World Cup. Given the limited baseball infrastructure in the country, the BFP is planning to hold an intensive training camp in the United States.
Fifteen players will be selected to join the camp and begin preparations. The move reflects the federation’s ambition to raise standards and give young Pakistani players international exposure.
Shah added that Alex Khan’s appointment is part of a broader strategy to develop youth baseball and build a competitive foundation for the future. “We believe Alex’s understanding of the game, both as a player and a coach, will be invaluable for our junior athletes,” he said.
A graduate of the West Virginia Mountaineers, Alex Khan is known for his energetic style and technical knowledge. He is expected to start work with the squad later this year as Pakistan looks to strengthen its presence in Asian baseball.
