On the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab government has initiated the implementation of a digital system in fruit and vegetable markets across the province. The objective is to ensure transparency, monitor prices effectively, and modernize the market infrastructure.
The Secretary of Price Control has issued a warning to transform the Kacha Fruit and Vegetable Market into a model marketplace by November. Sanitation responsibilities have been handed over to the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC). Additionally, outsourcing the collection of market fees across the province has resulted in a significant boost in revenue.
A key meeting was chaired by Secretary Price Control, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, where Director General PAMRA, Tariq Basra, briefed attendees on departmental operations and ongoing projects.
Dr. Bhutta emphasized the need to expand the scope of the outsourcing model to achieve increased revenue targets for the department. He also hinted at strict action against market committees failing to meet their annual targets.
To enhance the performance of officers and staff, the Secretary directed the immediate development of training modules under the PEHAM (Performance Enhancement and Human Asset Management) initiative.
